Join us for our annual steam gala, which moves back to its old September slot. The gala will run over 3 days Friday 8, Saturday 9 & Sunday 10 September 2017.

Home based locos in action will be RSH Austerity 71515 Mech Navvies and Andrew Barclay Rosyth No. 1, which will be joined by 2 visitors.

Our first guest is GWR 42XX 4270 courtesy of the Gloucester & Warwick Railway. 4270 was a South Wales engine and spent most of its working life at Newport Ebbw Junction shed, so may well have worked a train to Blaenavon previously. Its the first time in preservation that one of these large freight engines will return to the line which they commonly worked.

Keep an eye out for announcements of our second guest.

    Alex.

Nice choice, both 41312 and 4270 were saved for Welsh projects from Barry.

    Regards

    Matt

Working timetables with loco roster attached for the 3 days of the gala, with trains running into the evening with 4270 on the Saturday.

Thanks to all at the railway who helped in either or both of these events.

I went to this gala on the Friday and as it was so good for action I went again yesterday. A pity there were so few attending, no doubt the wet and cold weather put many off, a shame. It was worth going for the Ivatt alone which made some tremendous storming trips.

    How could it be improved?
    Hot food options please!
