I cant find a thread about this event however if there is one then mods, please merge together.

The following is my own views and is not associated with any of the organisations that I am member of.

Currently there seems to be no official news on what locomotive(s) will be visiting this year to celebrate the 40th year since opening in 1973. I understand that the NYMR are possibly looking for "a" famous crowd attracting locomotive for this event. I wonder if Flying Scotsman will therefore make a visit if ready in time?

My last brochure from RTC showed Flying Scotsman travelling on the Great Britain VI on the 28th April from Edinburgh to York with Union of South Africa taking over to Kings Cross. (Website says different, Union of South Africa Edinburgh to York, then Sir Nigel Gresley York to London).

If not Flying Scotsman, then I wonder what else they may bring in? Does anyone have any news, ideas or suggestions?

A triple headed run behind 60008,60010 and 4468 just as (un)likely as 4472........The possible line up has been hinted at on other forums-visitors appear to be generally black...

On the NYMR website it says 44871 , 45407 & 37518 due on NYMR March 22nd, however by the time of the gala the B5s may be needed elsewhere. I've heard mention of Tornado and Bittern again for the gala from one of the firemen.

Well, I've tried to find out any definite locos, other than 44871 & 45407 and had a nil response from those that would know. Negotiations are, however still ongoing on some interesting visitors although too delicate to rock the boat by going to press. Just hope that they are firmed up; it's not long to go, now.

Bit puzzled at the list of visitors. 29, 62005 and 69023 are moors residents aren't they?

Officially(?) 62005 is an NYMR resident but it hasn't been since 2010.

Yes I agree a very odd to post on the website. 62005 is of course rarely if ever seen on the NYMR these days so it is good news. Compared to what the NNR are pulling out the bag for their gala despite three cancellations it isn't that sensational so far. I have heard rumours of two more previous visitors though, so let's wait and see. Still the main attraction at the Moors is the action isn't it?

Never mind visitors, if 29's planned to be back by then that's all that matters!

Plus a demo of coal trucks using the staithes at Goathland - I'll shut up before the men in white coats come for me.

The ladies in white aprons running the cafe in the goods shed may be after you if someone starts shunting coal wagons through the shed to the coal drops!

I must say I agree with you, a lovely loco that I have had some great trips with, especially when the coal was so bad the crew loaded up with logs at Newtondale!
