A milk tanker coming from the NRM has hit a bridge under the ECML in York.

Amazed at such an incident has occurred. My understanding is that height restrictions with the bridge in question are well known to the NRM which is why many items of rolling stock arriving/leaving York are actually tripped by rail to/from Holgate Works. As I understand it someone will be receiving a bill of at least £1.000 for an emergency bridge inspection by Network Rail!

As to the Milk Tank. This I would suggest is 42801 http://www.ws.vintagecarriagestrust.org/ws/WagonInfo.asp?Ref=9939 This was accessioned into the National Collection as 1990-7364 in 1990. In 2003 it was de-accessioned from the National Collection on grounds of duplication. It was however retained by the National Railway Museum as 'plant'.

It would be very interesting to know to where it was being moved too.

I understand the Milk Tank ended up at Washwood Heath.

Anyone know the story of why it has moved there?
