I am staying in Levisham for a few days which happen to coincide with NYMR's diesel gala.
Does the railway still run steam trains on these days & would I have to buy expensive gala tickets to travel?

  2. A quick phone call direct to the NYMR could no doubt answer your question in seconds! ;-)

No steam during the day, which is good news compared to the SVR gala in October!

Before an argument erupts, I do both sides of the coin, but prefer 100% steam galas and 100% diesel gala - no mixtures please.

    Friday 18th Sept

1930 ex Grosmont (diner) arrive Pickering 2040

2110 ex Pickering (diner) arrive Grosmont 2225

    Both steam hauled

    Saturday 19th Sept

1945 ex Grosmont (diner) arrive Battersby 2100

2120 ex Battersby (diner) arrive Grosmont 2235

Should be 76079 or 825 (possibly 75029) was due to be 60007 before it stepped into replace 60009 on the mainline

    Sunday 20th Sept

1250 ex Grosmont (diner) arrive Pickering 1400 (banked by steam) hauled by D1023 Western.

This is mainly a positioning move to get a steam loco at Pickering for services on the Monday.
