Next de-accessioned loco ... just for fun

This is intended to be a bit of light-hearted speculation. Just a bit of fun.

The NRM has revealed that another Steam loco is to be de-accessioned from the National Collection. The only clue we have it that it's not "Tiny".

What's your guess about which loco it is, and where it will go? And your rationale.

    Here's my guess:

NER Tennant 2-4-0 No 1463 to be gifted to Darlington Borough Council for ongoing display at Darlinton North Road.

My rationale is that the NRM has a number of Victorian 2-4-0s, including two from the NER, and North Road would seem like a logical home for No 1463. The same could also be said of No 910 at Kirkby Stephen, but that operation is still getting established. Also No 910, although only 10 years older, looks a generation earlier than the Tennant.

    Any other guesses?

Frank Galbraith to remain at Hull Streetlife Museum of Transport.

Rationale - it wouldn't be missed at the NRM, as most casual visitors think it's a diesel anyway.

NRM abolished due to devolution. York railway museum becomes what it has always secretly wanted to be - a museum of the ECML.

The new GCR/Leicester museum will be a highly specialised collection called 'Fifty Shades of BR Black'.

Shildon will be sold and converted into a Free School, keeping Sans-Pareil as an instructional model.

    Everything else must go.

One of the original York Museum Locos is a shoe in here. A NER example as above or a GNR Atlantic perhaps?

Much though I find the NRMs actions poor thus far, I doubt that even they would get away with giving assets to individuals.

What with their current obsession and animosity towards the NRM this thread will no doubt form the basis of a 10 page spread within SR next month, with that in mind and my attempt to grab 5 minutes of fame probably City of Truro to Booths in Rotherham! :D

Nah, the NRM suddenly realise that they can't give away anymore of their stock and decide to raffle off one loco every Christmas, winner collects.

Also they introduce an "Adopt a loco scheme" where for a small monthly fee " you can be part of a locos life, and get regular updates and pictures from your chosen loco".

However two months into the scheme Mr Z of Upper Middledown finds it difficult to explain to his wife that the letters from Furness Coppernob, and Hardwicke are actually from railway locos and not some other source.

Bauxite (Black, Hawthorn 304, built 1874) fitted with remote-control and used to replace the Niteq mini-shunter at Temple-Mills Eurostar depot. Since it will be used intensively there is unlikely to be time for a repaint.

Lode star moves to Tyseley, and is found to be in "as new" condition, when the boiler was inspected, the barrel was found to contain missing nazi gold bullion bars , Tyseley now announce plans to rebuild the round house, extend its site and mainline the bloomer, and offer to buy hardwick from NRM.

    You joke but.....

-other members of the class preserved
-2 other Gresley locos in the collection, one being a unique 2-6-2, the other being a 4-6-2 with a more famous story to tell.....
    - 1 other streamlined loco (and another air smoothed) in the collection.
