It's that time of year again when we get to the Nene Valley's annual "Rail Mail" event, featuring:
    Operating TPO set,
    Beer,
FIRST double exchange at TWO different locations on ONE non-stop run since 1971!

Loco roster and the beer list is still to be confirmed, but I will update when known.

    Regards,
    Paul

Loco's for the event will be chosen from:

    Standard 5 73050
    Deltic D9009 Alycidon
    Class 40 D306 Atlantic Conveyor

A worthwhile event for all the family to see how mail exchanges took place. Our excellent TPO team will be on hand to answer any questions. Both myself and Bricky89 will be on hand to answer any questions about the event or the NVR in general. Green Service in operation departures from Wansford at 10.30 12.30 14.30 and 16.15 probably alternating Steam and Diesel with the TPO set.

    Enjoy

I mentioned on another section I may be attending this event, first time at the NVR since being 5 or so and seeing number 1 and the polish engine :smt001 (must of been around 1996).
Also my first sighting of a deltic, I will be travelling on the trains. Is it easy to get the mail drop offs and will 73050 be with the TPO set and the MK1 set?

    thanks in advance.

    The loco's in use will be D9009 & 73050.

The mail train will run with passengers to Sutton Cross and to Yarwell, where the passengers will be let off (we cannot have any passengers onboard during the exchanges) the 3 mail exchanges will occur then passengers picked up and returned to Yarwell, an additional fare of £1 each way for travelling on the TPO.

I haven't got my copy of the timetable to hand but i will update which locos are working what services.

    Hope this helps,
    Paul

    Yes, thankyou
I will let you know tomorrow if I am coming up. I have to get up nice and early (4.30am!!!!!) then bike to Norwich and catch the 6.30am train, see 60019 at 8.15 or so then walk to Peterborough and catch the 11.30 to Wansford for a look around there.
Should be a nice day, plenty of sun cream at 33 degrees though

If you do visit, come and say hi. If time allows (or I ditch the TPO's for an hour and cause chaos to the timetable as you do) might be able to take you round the sheds and yard etc....

Not normally a diesel fan, but having seen her again and again blasting through Donny around the final days of steam, I'd love to see a video posted of Alycidon and that TPO. Just as spectacular as the ones at Quorn, I guess, as the driver gives it some welly to reach the required speed.

Working weekends is sometimes a bummer.

We'll see what we can do for ya :)

The Deltic is here till October so should be plenty more opportunities hopefully with the TPO from one of the exchanges.

    You'll have to pay a visit!! \:D/
