I have been reminded that there was for a time (1950s to early 60s I think) a section of narrow gauge track running alongside the standard gauge formation between Chalkwell and Leigh on Sea. Does anybody know anything about this? I assume that it might have been for sea defence works. I remember only the overgrown tracks and do not recall any rolling stock. Neither can I be sure what the gauge was.

    Cheers
