    March 1978 (Part 1)

    It’s the beginning of March, it’s cold and miserable so in my perverse way I have another overnight session at Crewe. I was a hardy soul in those days.

    March 1978 (Part 2)

    It’s the beginning of March, it’s cold and miserable and following a night session at Crewe and a misty dawn I have move south to Stafford where it is still dull and misty. After a brief stay its back to Crewe where the mist has started to clear

    March 1978 (Part 4)

    March thirty four years ago continues at Nottingham as I forsake lunch for a half hour lineside adjacent to the office at Furlong House. The following day finds me on Nottingham station making my way to the Leicestershire coalfields on a site visit.

    The 18th March thirty five years ago was Football League Cup Final day at Wembley, Liverpool versus Nottingham Forest. The 1977/78 football season was the start of the glory years for Nottingham Forest under Brian Clough. Having narrowly gaining promotion to the then First Division (now the Premier League) the year before Forest went on to win both the First Division title and League Cup double. Cup Final morning finds me at Loughborough ready for the stream of Forest Footex’s heading south to Wembley. For those interested the match at Wembley ended in a 0-0 draw with Forest winning the replay 1-0 four days later at Old Trafford. Feedback and comments welcome.
