Beamish have bought another loco, 1901 Manning Wardle 'Newcastle', that's gone under the radar hasn't it, is there trouble at t' rumour mill?!

Transport & Industry News at Beamish: We've gone and bought another one! One of the UK's 'lost locomotives' joins the Beamish collection...

Hopefully she'll be on display during the Great North Steam Fair.

Well, well! I remember reading about this engine in Steam Railway issue 6 - I sometimes wondered what had happened to her but never got around to asking. Congratulations to Beamish for securing her, and good luck with her restoration. One day I'll make the trek up north to see her!

Yes I am an active volunteer
A friend of mine lived nearby and had an invite to ride the private line back on which it was based in the late 1970s. Uninvited guests however could be greeted by a shotgun and a "git orf moi laand". :)

    It's a Barclay 0-4-0ST, works no. 1219 of 1910.
