    Winter Steam Gala - 1st, 2nd & 3rd March 2013

The KWVR seemed to have taken over the slot vacated by the SVR.

Wonderful stuff, something good to look forward to, always 'worth' a visit, especially now I am semi-retired and have these terrible long 4 day weekends, something to do on the Friday as well! It's good that railways don't conflict with each other on important events like this. We already have the ELR and GCR conflict at the end of January.

Well, I suppose it is "flying" by heritage railway standards.

A bit later than before; by two weeks, but there will be a little more daylight. The site refers to the possibility of more visitors - any chance of the Flying Pig 43106? Still kicking myself for missing it last autumn but was otherwise engaged. I have seen a photo of 43114 at Oxenhope in BR days - 'Steam in the Worth Valley - volume 3' on page 5, and looks very much 'in place'.

doubt they'll want the pig again since it was the visitor for this year's (2012's) autumn gala

1501 would be a spectacular, if completely inauthentic, choice!

While we're on the subject of visiting engines, maybe I could throw a few suggestions into the hat.

Wouldn't mind seeing either 78019 or 46521 from the GCR at the Worth Valley, or even 80072 to pair it up with 80002??

Would quite like to see 80080 grace KWVR metals although 80072 would seem the most likely choice out of the Standard 4 tanks. Would be a nice opportunity to pair 80002 with another of its classmates before withdrawal.

Anyway it'll be nice whatever loco or locos are confirmed and I wish everyone involved all the best with the planning and running of the gala. :)

Unimpressed by the idea of two BR4 tanks. One is fine, but with only one train every hour having two of them very much reduces the variety.

I agree entirely with your sentiment '... I wish everyone involved all the best with the planning and running of the gala.'

    The Flying Pig, perlllleeeaaasse!

I know it's unlikely, as it happened last autumn, but I had a genuine reason for not being able to attend. A shame that I can't write out the necessary cheque, either!

Did say in my last post on this topic that you might get 78019 or 46521, I was right!

It will of course be nice to see & hear a Standard 2 climbing out of Keighley and up Oakworth Bank.

The gala is a month away now and, at the time of writing, the KWVR website says that 'We are currently working on other guest engines'.

    Is there any news?

Hello. No further visiting engines at this point now. Nothing available or too expensive to get.

    So:
BR Std 2 No. 79019 (Visiting from GCR)
4MT 80002 (Making last Gala appearance)
Coal Tank 1054 (Back in LNWR fully lined out livery - (HOPEFULLY!))
    Hudswell Clarke 1704 'Nunlow'
    MR 4F 43924
    L&Y A Class 1300 (Staying in L&Y Livery)

Also we hope to have a member of the home fleet back in action following repairs... More soon when we can confirm that one way or another.

Turntable demonstrations and hopefully also demonstrations of the wheel drops. I'll update the website Home | Keighley & Worth Valley Railway with full information once it is available along with the timetable for the Weekend.

    Regards

The Coal Tank has been taken out of the line up looking on the website just now. Anyone know what has happened?
