A very big step has been made to Roger Hibbert's Fowler Jinty 3F 47406. Roger (owner of 47406 and 8F 48305) .The boiler for 47406 has been placed in the frames at the GCR's Loughborough MPD Shed. The boiler has been placed on the locomotive so that all the pipe runs can be completed. However the boiler will need to be removed again as it will need to have its hydraulic and steam tests before the boiler is placed back on the locomotive for final fitting. A very big step indeed as it is very close to steaming for the first time in 40+ years!!

Well done, I remember it at Buxton when it was little more than a boiler, frames and wheels!

Just thought Id add that 47406 passed its Hydraulic Tests last week with the boiler being taken out of its frames. The boiler is scheduled to have a steam test this week, this will be that 47406 will steam for 43 years, big well done to owner Roger Hibbert and the guys at the GCR.

Excellent news, I thought it was well advanced during my visit in September.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

    Best Regards
