Called there a few years ago - a fascinating place, the line reopened would be spectacular.

I too saw it, in 2014.

There's a break of gauge at the top, which was the reason the station was so large, placed in the middle of French standard and Spanish broad gauge.

    The summit tunnel, Spanish side.

If I remember correctly, the reason the line was closed was a runnaway freight on the French side, caused by a power cut.
In 2014, the SNCF were rebuilding the lower part of their side out of Pau, some way back into the hills. There is hope :)
It's a smashing line to discover.
