This collection features the C12 (GNR C2) Atlantic Tank Engines
The Great Northern Railway class C2 locomotives were a class of 4-4-2 tank locomotives built by the Great Northern Railway (GNR) between 1898 and 1907. They were used on local and commuter passenger trains in Yorkshire and North London. They were withdrawn between 1957 and 1958.

I have added a large collection of photos featuring the Ivatt/Gresley J6
Ivatt retired at the end of 1911, but construction of the J6s was continued by Gresley until 1922. The Gresley locomotives had their boilers set slightly further back, making the fireman's job easier. The rear axle horn blocks had to be redesigned to allow this re-positioning of the boiler; and a shorter cab was fitted. The sandboxes were moved from below the running plate, to above it. A total of 95 Gresley J6s were built in ten batches at Doncaster. A final order for ten J6s was placed in 1922, but this was replaced by an order for N2 0-6-2Ts instead. Including the earlier Ivatt engines, a total of 110 J6s were built.

I have added a large collection of photos featuring the Ivatt N1 0-6-2T Locomotives
The Great Northern Railway (GNR) Class N1 is an 0-6-2T side tank steam locomotive designed by Henry Ivatt and introduced in 1906. They were all withdrawn from service between 1947 and 1959.
The majority of the class were fitted with condensing apparatus and worked in the London area, from King's Cross and Hornsey depots, on empty coach trains and on cross-London exchange freight trains. Also a few locos allocated to West Yorkshire

I have added a new collection of photos featuring Ivatt R1 0-8-2 Tank Locomotives, just 5 photos in this collection
The Great Northern Railway (GNR) Class L1 (LNER Class R1) was a 0-8-2T side tank steam locomotive designed by Henry Ivatt. It was originally designed for suburban passenger traffic on the Metropolitan City Lines.
A prototype was built in 1903, but it was overweight, so it was rebuilt with a smaller boiler and shorter side tanks. Ten more engines were then built to this modified design. During the "small boiler" era, the cylinders were lined to 18" to match the boilers.
In 1905 and 1906, thirty more engines were built for working goods trains in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The original eleven engines were not a great success on passenger services so, in 1907, they were moved to the West Riding for goods work.
The first engine was withdrawn in 1927, and the class survived until 1934.
The boilers from Nos. 3138 and 3148 were kept at Doncaster, and were eventually sold for scrap in 1966
