    Hi All,

I have been thinking where my love of steam trains came from…. and then it dawned on me it was when I was in the car with my mum around the age of 4 we came across a steam locomotive in some nice chaps garden just outside Canterbury (Stodmarsh Rd).

Now I am hoping someone can tell me which loco it was and where it is now? Somewhere I have a newspaper cutting about it but it would take months to find it! I have a feeling it was a war department tank engine but I could be completely wrong.

    Many thanks.

Orenstein & Koppel 2 foot gauge "Elsa" owned by the Rev Ted Hamer. I last saw it in 2008 stored at Preston Services.

Cheers Antony, a quick internet search turned up this page http://www.railwaysafrica.com/vn/2012/09/17/ted-hamer/

Thanks, yes I was wrong thinking it was a war department engine (Oh and standard gauge) but I suppose I was only small at the time.

Now I have seen a picture its definitely the same engine….. Its amazing what you can remember when you are four!

Does anyone know if this is still at Preston?

Similar locomotives can be found on the Bredgar & Wormshill railway near Sittingbourne in Kent.
