Hello with this gala only being 8 weeks away does anyone know any visiting locos? Nothing on GCR website and haven't spotted anything in any magazines either.

    Kind regards Gavin

I'd certainly be glad to see 73129 at the GCR. When I visited the MRC Butterley in July it was parked up in Swanwick sidings with superheater trouble, although they said they were working on new elements and it should / could be available again this year.

    Fingers crossed.

Just to update my post above (and avoid any misunderstandings) I got an email the other day from Midland Railway Butterley to confirm 73129 is running again.

Looking forward to riding behind her on the double track.

Anyone know when the WTT is likely to be available?

In the past the GCR used to publish a complete gala WTT online, usually appearing in the week preceding the event. However, for the last couple of years the advance online timetable has been restricted to the passenger workings with the steam gala non-passenger workings only appearing in the free (when you buy a ticket) souvenir programme.
I can only assume that this change in policy regarding gala information is aimed at encouraging everyone (i.e. lineside photographers like myself) to buy a ticket - and I for one have no qualms about that!
    Cheers,

Manston is already at GCR and will be used this Sunday (29th) as well as during the Gala.

SLL would much appreciate receiving a copy of any photos showing 34070 in action while it's at GCR, and will set up a gallery for these. Naturally copyright will be acknowledged. To nicksidmouth@gmail.com please.

Yes all went as planned today. We're running a 45 minute interval service tomorrow from 10am. No freights or postals I'm afraid, I can only apologise that the website and flyer don't make it clear that the extras are only running on saturday and sunday! Locos expected out are 34070, 48624 and 73129. The final train of the day at 4pm is expected to be doubleheaded by 73129 and 34070.

    Kind regards,

    Phil

Is there a timetable available anywhere that includes loco allocations for the freight and TPO trains?

The visitors usually get a go on it from the galas I've been to, the only exceptions I can think were the Schools and the GWR 2-8-0. Heck even 9466 got a go last year, now that was quite something!
