    THE flagging fortunes of rail freight in the Far North are set to receive a major shot in the arm if a multi-million-pound venture takes off.
    Industry veteran Jim Welsh is in the process of finalising plans to operate a daily goods service from Georgemas Junction, near Halkirk.

    He hopes to have the first trains running by the end of the year in an enterprise he forecasts will create "scores" of jobs.
