The Middleton Railway found an EE 350hp shunter in its car park this morning! It is No.601. At the moment we are guessing that it has been delivered to us in error but nobody has come forward to claim it!
If anybody reading this lays claim to knowing anything about it, it is in the way and we would like it moving!

Was certainly a surprise when I walked through the gates to the railway this morning.

Surely somebody must know where it has come from. There must be something on the internet somewhere that lists stock locations.

A report on another forum states that it has been reported that 7120/AD601 (ex ex LMS 0-6-0DE built Derby 1944) from the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway was due to be moved to "Hunslet, Leeds" (for repairs ?) last week.

While the Hunslet Engine Co, have offices in Leeds, they nolonger have a works in Leeds.

I suspect that this is another case of "attempting to deliver to the invoice address"!

We're now fairly certain that it should have gone to LH Plant and that Allely's have delivered it to us by mistake. However, when I phoned Allely's this morning, nobody knew anything about it!
How much do you think we should charge for storage? Are we allowed to put wheel clamps on it? :)

    I smell a f......... up

I can understand that happening with like a small package or maybe a diesel engine, but how can that happen with a 20 ton or so locomotive

I'm sure The Sun would be interested in this story - you might even get a fee which I'm sure could go to a worthy restoration project. I'm amazed nobody has noticed it is missing yet.

(Last time I look ed an 08 was around 48 tons!)

You'd have thought the transport guys might have questioned why no-one was there to help offload it or at least sign for delivery! I can't imagine there are too many cases of locos being delivered where the delivery instructions say "if no-one in, leave it by the wheely bin!"
