It would seem Tangmere is heading back down the iconic branch line on Saturday 24th January, the question is will this be the final train?

No. Past Time Rail have announced a second train to Folkestone Harbour to run in March / April. Loco and exact date still to be advised. Advertised in the tour booklet handed out on last Sunday's Buxton Spa Express.

Now I know this is a very long shot but is there any chance of either Golden Arrow regalia or even a renumber and name to either 70004 or 70014?? I would certainly make the journey to see that. Especially if they can get the stock in the right colour... How about the green set... but being its a PTR our not much chance of that.

Why green? Shouldn't the Golden Arrow have Pullman liveried coaches?

Perhaps the credit crunch has killed off the redevelopment scheme for filling in the harbour and removing the Harbour branch. It's an ill wind that blows no good.

Question is: "Is Folkestone Harbour" going to be reopening? Or is it going to remain for VSOE workings still?

I think Anthony Coulls in the NRM section said that they won't allow this at the NRM as it devalues the historical aspect of the engine or some such similar idea. The recent renaming for the TA anniversary was the one exception they make.

So just to be clear: is this the last final train, or the final last train?

No it's the last train until the next one which then becomes the last one until the next one.

Happens every day at most stations.

I was under the impression that this was something of a myth, I think if they put a request in writing the NRM will consider it on its own merit.

Fokestone Harbour hasn't actually closed, and I believe there have been objections from EWS, DfT, and Southeastern.
It seems that it has become the line that refused to die - and I hope it never does!

Why have SouthEastern objected? Presumably to free up space from avoiding trains terminating at Central?

I understand that Southeastern objected due to the long dwell times that the VSOE would need at Folkestone West loading or unloading passengers and luggage.
