I have seen a report on another forum this morning that Scotsman will be taken off its train at York and replaced by diesels for the run to Kings Cross . Surely this is incorrect ??!

Well that was true of its run from Edinburgh on Tuesday so are two trips being confused here? Either way, it seems that Network Rail has finally sorted out the security of its timings as today's trip is almost completely invisible on RTT apart from a bit of ECS movement.

Indeed it is incorrect as Scotsman is heading south in readiness for the tour on Saturday to Salisbury and around the Southampton area.

Today scotsman is to work south only as booked. To get it south for the weekend it should go all the way to the cross, not seen anything to say otherwise.

Today's run is KGX - York - KGX, with diesel booked on the northbound leg and 60103 booked for the return so technically she can't be "removed" at York as she's not actually on it until the southbound run.

Interesting. I met an NR employee by the lineside while following GBIX last month who told me that FS is banned from the ECML south of Newark. I was wondering whether she'd be routed via the "Joint Line" today and be removed at Peterborough. Maybe they'll let her go round the Hartford loop?

I hope not as Hartford is in Cheshire. If on the other hand you mean Hertford…………………… :)

I hope the timings will be available for Saturday as my grandson is excited about seeing Scotsman.

I don't mind hanging around the trackside for two or three hours waiting for the A3 but a yound lad will quickly lose interest.

The Scotsman hype and popularity is starting to back fire. How am I supposed to keep my grandson interested in steam locomotives if the loco he dearly wishes to see in action becomes the A3 Stealth Machine? <BJ>

If anybody in London/Herts is planning to see her tonight, the train is running on the Hertford Loop rather than the direct route through Potters Bar.

Heard 47760 had failed and been taken off the train at Peterborough with the outward to York, 47580 now heading it alone. Believe 760 is in the shunt neck just north of Peterborough station.

I figured that based on timing information into Kings X I had got elsewhere.

So are we allowed to post the link to enable those less familiar with RTT to know? If not it seems rather discriminatory.
