Yes I am an active volunteer
Been a long time since i last posted photos here!

I paid a visit to a very special place during last weekend, the location was Fawley Hill. A place that is usually private/invite only, however this year to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the family owned locomotive No. 31 'Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons' the doors were fully open for the public for a huge event celebrating many forms of transport. Not only was the railway in operation but there was a huge mass of Traction engines, Steam Rollers, Lorries & other steam vehicles including miniatures. There were classic/vintage cars, buses, lorries, bikes, tractors plus a fair, stands, show ground, fly bys and even camels & Shire horses, a truly memorable event.

Greeting visitors to the event was visiting Hunslet 'Lilla' from the Ffestiniog Railway:

One of many stunning Showmans engines in attendance:

Just some of the steam traction to see:

They weren't all stunning! A modified diesel traction engine named 'Salty':

It seemed wherever you looked something was moving, either large or miniature:

Of course the real star of the show was No. 31, she climbs the 1 in 13 gradient with empty stock, this is apparently the steepest gradient on any standard gauge line in the UK:

Special visitor for the event was Aveling Porter 0-4-0 'Sir Vincent' from the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre:

No. 31 storms up the gradient:

Viewed from the other side she coasts down hill:

    And again, climbs up:

    A beautiful GWR bus:

It wasn't only road & railway transport at the event....!:

And to end part 1 of the images, the rollers, traction engines & lorries move to take part in the show ground:
