A great day out at the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway on the 21st February 2010.

I've uploaded a couple of clips with the rest to be available on the Winter DVD due for release at the weekend.

    Footage available here

    Nice footage in the snow!

Quite rare to see No.8 used on passenger serviceand you can see why!

Its boiler ticket runs out afer Easter so unless an extension is granted this could be the last you see of it for a while....

    GREAT FOOTAGE!

Great footage as ever Simon, such a shame that Embsay is not having a steam weekend this year, especially after reading on here a while back that some locos could be in traffic this year.

Even a home fleet weekend would be great.

Hope they change their mind between now and September.

Here we go!!! I think the key word is 'could'. Sadly many organisations rely on locos being available whilst still under overhaul and then have to cancel or postpone when they arn't. I agree it would be nice though, even if only to show off the fantastic fleet of restored wagons (14 last time I believe?)

    Hello,

On this occasion, there were 2 drivers on the engine! If you dont get the loco moving then it just bashes the train to bits! Not very suitable for passenger work, but at least it is now recorded for posterity!

With regards to the gala, I quite agree that it is a shame that we can't even just have a goods train day.

With regards to locos, im not sure how many will be avaliable for Septemener and I suspect that this may be just Beatrice and Cumbria.

There is a lot of work to be done!

Slowly getting there though (I hope).

It would appear that Illingworth needs more work than initally thought.

    After that who knows.....

Locos curently under overhaul: Annie, Beatrice, No.22, Revenge (50550), Primrose and Illingworth. Rather a lot.

All the locos are having their most thorough overhaul in preservation so that hopefully not as large amount will be required next time round.

Looking forward to seeing Barclay No.22 again but will it be as 22!!!

    Kind Regards,

    Smiler
