Long old day but I am looking forward to this. As much as I hope for number 9 as a final East Coast swansong, for her to be let loose on this she needs to be 100% fit, we will have to see what materialises.

So much for the Durham pickup - but looking at RTT there's nothing snapping at its heels either. So, presumably we have to board an earlier service train from DHM to NCL. Hey ho...

Please let it be No 9. My very first A4 in 1964 and I'd like to see it on its proper route once more before it's parked up for good after spending so long in the far south.

60163 confirmed in mail from RTC, along with tickets. Also tickets for service train from DHM to NCL in the morning. NR wouldn't allow a DHM pickup stop after all...

It looks as though after a long period of inactivity for Tornado (for all the reasons we have discussed) the A1ST is grabbing every revenue earning opportunity out there for their loco. Let's hope that things continue to run smoothly and the team will be able to regroup both themselves and the loco over the winter break.

I was supposed to be, but a situation has arisen requiring me to stay at home :( However, one of my wife's friends has stepped into the breach to accompany her on the trip. Brace yourselves, Edinburgh!!!

Away 2 late from York, but very easy timings, so soon caught up. Max 77mph between Northallerton and Darlington before signal check. Plenty of running around 70mph so far, 47 only providing the heat.

On time at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Tornado doing what she does best, lots of cruising around 70mph. Sun has even made an appearance!

Five minutes before I took this there was a lovely sunrise, with the sun just nicely hitting the trackside vegetation.

Then the sun, which had been rising into a clear sky went behind a cloud and by the time the train arrived it was overcast. Tornado-(5)-fbook.jpg
