An apology on the ELR website, but no explanation as to why.

I am told 34092 has been signed up for another 12months running agreement on the line. Would appear as though its going to get a fair bit of running!!

It is however off down south for a couple of gala's next summer & also potentially a visit to its 'home line of KWVR as well at some point otherwise East Lancs based for another 12 months.

Yh that's what i'd heard too, apparently the owning group are keener to keep it at bury than keighley for some reason.

I would guess it is quite simply more operating days = more return on the income shelled out for the most recent overhaul plus the engine still remains local-ish to the owners as well.

The KWVR are blessed with a healthy fleet of operable steam loco's at present so 34092's 'turn' will come around a lot less frequently than being on the ELR roster.

Couldn't find a dedicated thread for general Stuff for the ELR so this is as good a place as any for this info:
    http://www.rossendalefreepress.co.uk/news/new-images-reveal-stunning-plans-13561530
Looks a very sympathetic building extension and will be a great boost for rawtenstall
Hopefully bumping this thread will mean it gets used in the future for ELR postings rather than a thread getting created for every new post.

Perhaps because of the amount of use/income it is getting?

  12. Not sure why the adjective 'glamorous' had to be used, complete with exclamation mark. It's a bit olde worlde patronising, isn't it? This is 2017, after all.

If it had been men visible in the cab, would you have said 'handsome'? Or would you not have made any allusion at all regarding their gender?

Sorry if I've offended you. The photo has been on here for nearly 12 months and it's strange that nobody else has got a problem with it.

Looks really good. According to the pictures, the station will also get a second platform. If so, this will also improve the ambience of the terminus.

34092 is better suited to the ELR anyway. It gets more of a run.

Much as I love 34092 and the KWVR, I prefer to see smaller engines on a 4.5 mile Midland branch line.

I've been told there are discussions taking place that would mean 34092 will become a permanent member of the ELR fleet...........

There are too many people in this country who aspire to be the moral guardians for all of us. My personal opinion is that all of these people suffering from 'Mary Whitehouse Syndrome' should get a life.

34092 used to be privately owned, I think, by a consortium of KWVR members. If this is what they all want then I guess it's a good move. The KWVR has a decent fleet of medium-size locos. Their normal timetable only needs two in steam, so I think they'll cope.

A little surprised to see on the list of events for the East Lanc's on the Manchester Model Railway Exhibition guide back cover, no steam gala until the Autumn event. Perhaps I have missed a comment elsewhere?
There is a diesel gala listed for February.
