Looking forward to this annual visit as I do have friends on the line in the OPS dept. and Booking office I was just wondering when any of the visiting locos may be advertised or is it case of looking at the Pres locos that are moving around going to other Galas?

I had assumed this would be a 3 class 40s gala, but 40106 remains in Scotland as far as I can tell. I wonder if there has been any problem with the purchase?

You assumed wrongly. Heads south after Boness July gala.
Visitors to be announced shortly per ELR diesel group website.

Thanks for clearing that up. I suppose one way of thinking is that it saves me a 400 mile round trip for this gala. If the ELR ever does a three 40s gala, it will be unmissable!

    Didn't 1997 and 2000 have 3 class 40s?

I've just seen on the Class 20 Locomotive Society events page that D8001 (20001) is scheduled to visit this years Summer Diesel Gala in July if work is completed to the loco. Plus we'll see D832 returning from WSR, 40106 and D8110 (20110) hopefully running during the gala.

UPDATE: I've also seen on the ELR Diesel Group's running roster that 45108 is running on Saturday 13th August, which could mean the loco might be attending the Summer Diesel Gala also.

Well the gala seams to have been confirmed with only 31162/45108 & 46045 as visitors as well as the home fleet of course, to be fair that seams a bit weak in comparison to galas of yesteryear, although i wouldnt be surprised if something else is added, but if you look at the price of a two day rover, that costs more than a two day rover at the SVR gala and just look at what they had visiting! its a pretty poor state of affairs to be honest

Add 832 after being away for several years in Somerset, add new arrival 40106.

In all fairness, an ELR summer gala usually has, IIRC, 7 visitors or so? A wealthy selection relative to some lines. The 31 and two peaks are joined by D832 and D306 of the home fleet too, both of which are bill-toppers in their own right at the moment, so we're kind of on to 5 already. And I seem to recall there are the 2 locos from the Dean Forest still hanging around, so they could be added. Also don't forget - there's still the rest of the home fleet left to announce! :) I'd imagine there's still an element of 'watch this space' in play

Trouble with "watch this space" is people plan in advance in regard to travelodge, holidays etc it may be a case of "leave it too late" instead

    The full list of possibilities is D9531, D9537, 20001, 20110, D5054, 31162, 31466, 33109, D7076, 37109, 37418, D306, D335, 345, D832, 45108, 46045 and 50015. That's not a bad line-up.

There are more possibilities than that as the full line up of visitors may not have been announced.Certainly one of those you have quoted will not be working as its in pieces at Barrow Hill.Atleast a couple of the others are doubtful at best.
Then there is one loco at Bury available for traffic you haven't mentioned......

ELR web-site advises 56006 & 56301, in addition to the 3 already announced visitors, and the 2 long term DFR visitors and the 2 new home fleet and the existing home fleet.
Suggest that is well enough locos and well in advance notice.
