    Sounds great!

Will the Peckett No.1370 "May" be coming out to play, too?

I'm really looking forward to this steam theme day, especially seeing the austerity in action! Does anyone know when the loco roster is likely to be published? Also, I hope this doesn't sound like a silly question, but will Gothenburg be out on passenger trains, and if so, will it be double heading/banking the blue timetable full line workings for part of their journeys (say Bury - Ramsbottom), or have its own shuttle service?

32 will work double headed with 15 on 1 or 2 trips most likely to Rammy or Heywood, May will work on a bury Barron st shuttle with a selection of diesels and 32.

looks like a nice little event for the ELR to run. I've personally always liked little engines working hard more than big uns not doing so much. And of course, the bottom line matters and it's a cheap event to put on.

Excellent news, thanks for the updates.

I am reading elsewhere that 08479 will be in use on Barron St shuttles with 1370 & 32 - which is greeat news as well.

    Should be a good day.

Sounds like a good do, as said I'll be there! And the rare rod's a nice bonus :) Hopefully an enthusiastic crew can be rostered on AB2183? ;-)

Very sad news, obviously too short notice for a replacement, such a shame for all involved in the event.

We were really looking forward to Saturday as well.

It's a real shame about the loss of the Austerity. Whilst it obviously can't be helped, I think a lot of people (myself included!) were coming to the event, especially for it - hopefully it'll be out again, at some point in the future. Perhaps the ELR could advertise when it is next rostered on a service day? Nonetheless, I hope that the loss of No.15 doesn't detract from what sounds like a good event.

20087 would go down well, too incidentally....

Aye, will have to seriously think about whether I can justify the journey now... Just hope the powers that be don't get the idea that noone's interested in the event if visitor numbers do suffer...

From what I've heard WPR No.15 is next rostered for the weekend of May 9th and 10th. The repairs it requires are scheduled for next week as its owner Andrew Goodman needs to organise them under the terms of its hire contract. I am also told that it is a better steamer than the Jinty. Both are limited to 4 coaches due to Broadfield Bank. However from what I saw last August No.15 could do more as it was driven in first valve all day, nearly always in the third notch and had plenty left. It even went over the hump at Bury in first valve (just).

The main East Lancs Railway site now has the Class 121/122 out in the diesel path.

The 20 is stopped awaiting a buffer replacement and the water pump overhauling.

No but I have spoken to the driver on the day (Dave), a fireman on the loco on the day (the railways loco fitter, full time, I think) and the CME, plus a good friend who frequently works on the loco. All speak very highly of it. I've also been on the locos footplate and seen how it will do a preserved railways work in first valve. I spent the day last August travelling behind it and it was never stretched.

Why do you ask, is there a problem with anything I've said?
