a new railway station in Kenilworth moved a step closer this week after contracts were signed to design, build, finance and operate the hub.

Warwickshire County Council has awarded a 20-year contract to infrastructure specialist John Laing as part of a larger project to improve rail services on the Nuneaton-to-Leamington line.

The old Kenilworth station closed in 1965 but since then the town’s population has grown by 40 per cent and commuters currently have to drive to Warwick, Coventry or Leamington to catch a train.
