Coal trains out all weekend at the Tanfield Railway - on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 of May for Miners Heritage Weekend.

Austerity No. 49 on the hoppers all day both days for some hardcore NCB style action, first coal train 10.20 from Marley Hill. Renishaw Ironworks No. 6 on passengers alongside first departure from Andrews House 11.00.

We'll also be having displays of mining related items in the carriage shed including several local colliery banners. Vintate workshop in steam both days using our Lumby stationary boiler, forge displays Sunday at least... possibly saturday too labour depending.

It's a rare chance to catch a coal train on a Saturday which makes public transport so much easier... more info on public transport to and from Tanfield using Go North East at www.simplygo.com.

Full timetable will be posted here asap.
