Ian Riley is reporting on his mainline forum that Tornado has failed with an overheated crosshead - and that Clan Line will be substituting. Anybody able to confirm this or heard anything similar? Not that I have any reason to doubt it!

Yes, I have just heard the same thing from a normally well-informed source, and it's also on Clan Line's Twitter feed (@ClanLine28). Clan Line from and to Acton only, apparently. (Of course, Tornado was due to come off at Acton on the return anyway.)

So we have gone from 4464 to 60163 to 35028 for this run? My personal opinion is that there is nothing to sneeze about when you get Clan Line on your train due to her VSOE duties most of the time. It's like a bonus. That is just me though.

Chucking it down with rain in London. So is there any point in going to Acton Main Line to photograph outward or will Clan Line be positioned further west in Acton Yard to join?

Edited to add: Clan Line plus coach going through Acton Main Line but obviously joining at Acton Yard.

I guess that this was discovered after last weekend's trip to Plymouth. Lucky therefore that it was soon enough to ask the MNLPS to keep Clan Line warm after her Bristol trip on Wednesday as I guess was the sequence of events. So that'll mean even more cleaning for her Surrey Hills next Friday as I suspect today will become a grubby trip.

Here she is storming through Twyford in the sunshine with a very nice whistle. If she'd been on time it was still rainy and grey!
