The Bury Transport Museum, Castlecroft at the East Lancashire Railway is open! The museum is located across the road from the main entrance to Bury Bolton Street, it is then down the steps from the car park.
This museum closed to the public in 2003 to undergo structural repairs and restoration. The museum has now reopened to the public. There are many exibits inside the building including buses with information provided about the history of them and a small blue steam locomotive with a freight 'train'. There are also several interactive exibits for a hands on experience. If you would like to visit, have a look at the link above for more information!
    Prices:
    Adult - Museum Only: £2.80
    Child - Museum Only: £1.90
Adult concession - Museum Only: £1.90
    Family - Museum Only: £7.50

If travelling on ELR on the same day, the prices are as follows:

    Adult: £2.30
    Child: £1.60
    Adult Concession: £1.60
    Family: £6.20

Just to add, a 'bus appeal' has been launched to restore the 188 bus which will then reside in the museum. There is a link on the page that I posted previously to more information about the restoration process.

The concession tickets can be obtained by ELR members with a valid current membership card.

This weekend is the Family Fun Weekend at the East Lancashire Railway. Why not co-ordinate a trip to the railway with a visit to the museum? There are many events at Bury Station for young and old alike: http://east-lancs-rly.co.uk/?p=ffw1005

I can't answer your question as I do not know what the circumstances sorry. A new 'events' section has been added to the website and includes information about what will be going on in the museum when the ELR are hosting certain events.

Going back a while to the restoration of the museum, a new feature of the website allows you to 'Locate a Slate' to allow you to look at where your 'slate' for the roof has been placed (however, this is only an estimate). This is perhaps a fun thing to do if you are interested in the restoration of Bury Transport Museum.

Locate a slate is found here: http://burytransportmuseum.org.uk/?p=tiles

Not specifically to do with the transport museum but this week sees the start of a new bus service taking passengers of the East Lancashire Railway around the sights of Rawtenstall. More information can be found at this link: http://www.visitlancashire.com/site/whats-on/search/rossendale-tour-buzz-p600190
There are many interesting sights to see and places to visit so why not come to the ELR and give it a try?

Starting on Wednesday, there will be a 'Get Creative' month. These will take place on Wednesdays and Fridays until the 27th August. A link to the 'Get Creative' page is on the main page which is here: http://burytransportmuseum.org.uk/
Please take time to look at the activities on offer as they are very interesting for children and budding young artists.

Saturday 11th September is the Heritage Open Day, there will be behind the scenes tours of the museum commencing at 9.30am. The tours are free, however, booking is essential for these tours. Alongside this there will be free entry into the museum from 10am-Midday on Sunday 12th September as part of the Heritage Open Day(s). On this day there will be a selection of vehicles in the Museum Yard for the Vintage Transport Day. This is a busy weekend in the museum and it's well worth a visit.

The next 'event' at the Bury Transport Museum will be in conjunction with the ELR's Family Fun Weekend. There will be family activities in the Education Room. Both 'Doris' and 'Pearl' the traction engines will be in steam in the Museum Yard.
