On Sunday 17th January 2010 Ian Pearce, a presenter, from BBC Three Counties Radio (Beds, Bucks & Herts), recorded an interview with the Chairman of the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway Society, Mervyn Leah, at Stonehenge Works about Ian's nomination of LR3098 a First World War Simplex petrol locomotive, as a major "object of the world" in a joint BBC/British Museum project. This locomotive, which is part of the National Railway Museum Collection, is currently on loan to the Leighton Buzzard Railway. The railway also has 2182, a similar but armoured rather than protected Simplex, awaiting restoration to running order.

The interview was broadcast yesterday (19th February 2010) & will be repeated on Sunday, so it may be also be available through "listen again" on the Three Counties Radio website.

The BBC website also has a page http://www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld/objects/WuD6hzWLT8yrWlzROaJfQw about this. In the picture on the web page the gent with the microphone is Ian Pearce - who has been a long standing friend of the railway, having hosted his "Sunday Best Anorak Get-Together" at Pages Park for several years in the 1990s.
