Has anyone worked out just how many preserved railways run on ex BR tracks and how many ex mainline engines are at the moment in ticket. This is not counting engines at the NRM. It seems that there are more heritage railways starting up but less engines to run on them. I know some of the bigger railway have quite a few running but at the same time a lot of the smaller ones depend on industrial locos to keep going. I wondered what the ratio would be ex BR lines/ ex mainline Locos maybe 1/1.25?
