Heritage Railway report, courtesy of a BLS spokesman that their first mainline outing will run with load nine and a diesel on the rear ! Timers will be annoyed !

Sometimes being the first carries with it a price (on the ticket) or a price (with insurance). Maybe the timers will have to wait for pure steam as I presume that Bahamas will be around for a while? :)

I'm not privy to the thinking of BLS and it may well be that the inclusion of a diesel, as rumoured, is more to do with providing train heat, some complicated train movement at Carlisle needing extra help or even the arrangements for getting the train up and down the KWVR. If it is included primarily as a 'just in case' then that suggests to me that there may be snagging issues still to sort out. Either a locomotive is fit for the main line or it isn't, in my view. But at the end of the day it is for the loco owners and the TOC to decide. All that needs to happen is that the punters should be told, preferably before they book.

I was thinking of booking on the second trip but I won't be now.

Both Light and Loaded Test runs for Bahamas now showing for Friday 25th January.

Let's hope all is well then as time is getting tight.

Given what this trip is all about I think it would probably be postponed rather than go out with a substitute loco

Thought it was KWVR / NYMR who have control over it when not on mainline duties?

Haworth .Owned solely by KWVR on loan to IRE with agreement it or a substitute spend part of the year on KWVR.
It is facing Carlisle for a reason -it might be because Fort William is the same direction .
