    Hi all,

Just uploaded the 4th audio clip to The Railways of Great Britain - Home

The next in our audio series from the late John Tait is this recording of 6024 'King Edward I' struggling to make the 1 in 75 ascent of Shap,Cumbria with "The Mountain King" on Friday 26th March 1999.

We firstly hear 6024 struggling to keep it's feet as it slowly works through Scout Green before getting going on the climb up to Shap Wells before struggling once again on the final few hundred yards to the summit.

A heavy train, poor coal and an unfamiliar crew were blamed for this poor performance. It would be most interesting to see the King have another go upon it's return.

    Enjoy,
