Just a quick reminder that there’s only four days to before the Amerton Railway Summer Steam Gala on 20th & 21st June.

We will be busy with preparations throughout the week and look forward to welcoming our visiting locomotives and the Marshall steam tractor at the end of the week, Peter Pan and Jack are old friends and we eagerly await sight of the Davenport from the Statfold Barn Railway.

Gates will open at 9:00am on both Saturday and Sunday for viewing loco preparation and the usual intensive passenger and freight service will run from 11:00am – 5:00pm. The Amerton Railway Diesel locos will also be in the yard.

The Steam Gala will be officially opened on Saturday by Mark Found, noted sound recordist and producer/presenter of the Discovery Channel series “Trainspotting” and “The Garden Railway”.

There will be access to our fields inside the track for those who want to take pictures or video, or just see the locos working out on the line (check out some of the videos on You Tube to get a feel for the views on offer). If you wish to get to Amerton by public transport, there will be a free vintage shuttle bus service from Stafford Station to Amerton on Saturday only (see the News item on the Amerton Railway website, or our Facebook page for details).

We’d also remind visitors that the adjoining Amerton Farm offers a range of activities for other members of the family, as well as a Tea Room offering a variety of refreshments and meals.

We look forward to seeing you !

    Good afternoon there today.
I understand all the locos worked passenger trains during the day but swapped approx. hourly so missed Jack which was a shame considering a visitor.
