The Amerton Railway Steam Gala will be held on the weekend of 18th & 19th June.

We are delighted that newly restored Hudswell Clarke “Alpha” from the Statfold Barn Railway will be joining resident locos W G Bagnall “Isabel” and Hunslet “Jennie” on our usual roster of passenger and freight trains.

Freight stock this year will include RNAD van and flat wagons, plus wagons from RAF Fauld, all recently restored.

Renowned for the photo opportunities, the railway will be open from 8:00am to view steam raising, the works and shed will be open for behind-the-scenes tours; you will also be able to see the progress made in restoring the Leek & Manifold Waterhouses signal box.

We will have railway books on sale, and a display of local railway history photos, in the ex GNR Chartley station building – including, on Saturday, Amateur Radio station GB6AR operating for “Museums on the Air”.

Keep an eye on the Amerton Railway website (www.amertonrailway.co.uk) or the Amerton Railway Facebook page, for any updated information.
