WCR are busy today, just look at the movements through Preston today with four different charter trains, and various loco changes and associated moves.

    From WNXX.

The Luca Pezzulo Express - Saturday 20th July 2019

This rather special and unusual Branch Line Society loco hauled charter, operated by West Coast Railways, will be visiting FOUR freight installations in the Network Rail London North East zone and is raising funds for Martin House Hospice. Martin House http://www.martinhouse.org.uk/About-Us/Who-We-Are provides family led care for children with life shortening conditions. It is a place where children, young people and their families can come to stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help. Many of the team behind this charter have a personal connection with the hospice and are delighted to support them with this event.

From a traction perspective, we will feature a WCR Class 37 operating in top 'n tail formation with a Colas Rail Class 37. We are very grateful to Colas Rail for all their support with this project.

Our Buffet Car will serve drinks, snacks and light refreshments to our Standard Class passengers whilst our First Class Plus passengers will enjoy an at seat service of complimentary light refreshments and hot drinks. Our Real Ale bar will be serving a selection of real ales from the Mallinsons Brewing Company. A leg stretch break and photographic stop has been requested in Hull. There will be a charity raffle and silent auction with a number of highly sought after / money can't buy prizes available.

Timings and routing are provisional but validated by West Coast Railways and bid to Network Rail as below. Access to all freight facilities is, as usual, subject to availability and operational matters on the day.

Tremendous effort by WCR today. The Princess went up from Settle J to Blea Moor in 20 mins this morning, Tornado did the same in 18 mins this afternoon, the Northern Belle and FS are doing two of the Clitheroe/Little North Western circuits. Plus the Solent and Sarum. Then there is this diesel special to Hull and tomorrow the NWCE. To be able to crew that lot is very impressive.
