So, more "quality" reporting from Steam Railway then.

To be fair all that SR said was that Mr Hoskings had expressed an interest - what was wrong with that?

Even if JH did buy 34081 he would still let the same support/engineering team look after her. This is what happened with 5029 and 92212, with the latter under contract to the MHR. I do wonder where JH would base 34081 though and would he go Main Line with her seeing as 60019 and 5029 are already approved and 34046 is not far off with 70000 and 35027 coming after that.

92 Squadron holds alot of memories for me. I saw her twice in 1998. First at Nene Valley as a quick visit on our way up to Yorkshire and agin at the Bluebell. Then I saw her again at the Bluebell in 2001 and again at the Bluebell in 2007.

Our main branch of Tesco has started selling "92 Squadron" amongst it's bottled beer range. The label has a picture of the loco, not the RAF squadron's crest and a smaller label tells about the loco and mentions the society's website.

Any other preservation scheme tried marketting it's own beer before?

The 6880 boys had 2 beers specially brewed for their Steel, Steem and Stars 1 and 2 Real ale festivals.

Betton Bitter and 6880 ale I think!

My mum saw this in our local Tesco too.

I'm pretty certain many locos have had their own beer/cider at one time as have preserved railways, but is 34081 the first loco to have one in a supermarket?

In norfolk, Woodfordes Brewery used to market 'Great Eastern Ale' which featured a steam loco on the front.

Also the NNR has had runs done by the Wolf brewery of B12, J15 and WD ales, and occasional other labels, but I aren't aware of these ever making shops

The same magazine also said it may go back to NVR for overhaul, so nothing concrete was reported, just publishing a few of the options the group has.
Surely the 34081 website would be first to announce such a big change before any magazine would anyway?

Derek , please read my original posta, I said that this was the rumour going around Ropley shed, not about the reports in Steam Railway.

I looked at that before posting.

What i meant was if anything was to happen like the loco being sold, then surely the website would be the first place to report it, not magazines.

I realise that nothing I post here will stop those who love a good gossip and take part in good old rumour mongering but here goes anyway.
34081 has not been sold to anybody, full stop. The rumour mongers down and Ropley can say what they like and Chris can post it on here but we still own her and
are not in the process of selling her.
