While I don't have any news, I'm glad that someone brought this locomotive as a new thread. In the meantime, it must be crowded in the Tyesely sheds with both Clun and Lizzie in the midst of overhaul. How big are the Tyseley shops anyway and how many locomotives can be accommodated in there?

Not as crowded as it once was. I was away from TYS for a year and a bit and on my return a month ago I was amazed to see that the shed had almost doubled in size, thanks in no small part to our friends in the European Union. I'm going in tomorrow so I'll see if there is anyone who can come on here and explain further.

I was half joking about the friends bit but let's face it we in the preservation movement can't afford to kick a gift horse in the mouth (to coin a phrase). Look at it this way at least we're getting a miniscule bit of our money back. And with the news this week that the Lottery will have to wait about twenty years to get it's money back from it's backing of the 2012 Olympics we can't afford to be choosy where the dosh comes from.

How many here have sponsored a boiler tube and/or boiler stays for Clun? I'm considering to do so.

Nice if it could take part in any May the 9th 50th anniversary celebrations. Don't think 4079 would be ready though.

Well with 4079 a non starter, 7029 a maybe and the likelihood of Reading still being off limits, a near re run seems unlikely.

How about a 90MPH dash down Whiteball with the Earl ;)

Don't forget 6999 & 5054 are no longer with us either.
Although it seems like yesterday I was stood on Reading GENERAL Station watching both the down & up trains.
Not like the Plain Reading plastic place it is becoming now.

Read one of the mags the other day and thought it said end of 2014 for 7029.

I believe it might be ready much sooner than that ! It could be the next engine back on the mainline (vying with Leander).

Really Tysley's own mag has it down for 2014 as well, would of thought Leander would be out before it tbh.

Remember seeing it at Tyseley when I was a kid with Leander so that would be nice

It would be nice to have an update on Clun because I'm not convinced from all the pictures that were posted from the last Tyseley open Days

But with 6998 and 5051 near misses , something similar could be done one day. (Oh and I object to be called Plastic...I'm twice as big and busy as I used to be even if I'm not a General any more
