LMS Princess Coronation 'Duchess of Sutherland' makes the journey to Holyhead this Saturday, timings are already up on UK Steam which can be found at http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t09/t0509b.htm

Sitting here unable to get out and watching for progress on today's trips but this seems to be the only one with no updates.

Should have left Llandudno Junction a while ago on the outward leg. Any news?

Hope all have a trouble free day.

It was doing very well timing wise when I saw it at Rhosneigr in what I can only describe as "typical Anglesey weather". I was going to see it at Malltreath for the return leg but the weather was not going to play fair so gave up in the end :(

Believe me Ralph. If you were on Angelesey today, you would have made the same decision as me when the wind & rain just got worse...and worse.

However, I managed to compensate the poor photo at Rhosneigr later on in the day. 6233 Duchess of Sutherland is seen coming off the Roodee viaduct 10 minutes early. \:D/

If the weather was anything like on Shap / the S&C, pity the poor passengers with 3 hours in Holyhead!!

It's been a dry and largely sunny day in the midlands . 3 hours in Holyhead at the best of times is tricky . Time to use the Welsh highland as a destination ? be interesting to see how the tour with 5043 gets on

Well it does look nice... As an alternative for next time maybe PMR could borrow the Gerald of Wales board... [I will move this comment over there!]

For those members / photographers who gave up before the return leg was a bad move - dare I say it ooooops!! Prior to departure from Holyhead - the weather cleared up a threat . Anglesey onwards & right along the coast as far as Moston / Holywell was vitually sunshine and plent of blue sky. In fact the conditions were what I call crisp & clear. If you look at Phil's shot above taken nr Chester, you can see the blue sky in the background just to prove the point.

I did manage to obtain 3 shots out of four in full sun (Prestatyn on the outward run, Bangor & Holywell on the return). The not in sun shot was at Bangor on the outward leg and only just missed that by 50yds but never the less that was a bright shot.

Certainly up to 15.00hrs, I admit it was suspect to say the least but ................ that is NW Coast weather for you!

After seeing Phil's shot above I wish I had gone out now after not being able to get out for Lizzy or the Scot ](*,) Lovely photo Phil =D> I was finishing pointing up some flags in the afternoon and around 4.30 rain, hail and wind stopped play so I thought sod it, not worth the 60+ mile round trip to Hargrave or Beeston for a photo or vid in crap weather so I went for a pint (or two..) #-o

    Neil.

Typical lineside weather for a great shot.

Black cloud over the train, blue sky behind!

    Such is life...................

Would I be correct in assuming that there is an element of sarcasm in your words?

No, to be honest! I like headboards on charters and believe that it is an important marketing tool...
