Does anyone know if 5043 is fixed and running to York on 25th April as planned? Harold.

No times up as yet on UK Steam but it does not show as cancelled nor does VT Website so presumably still running.

The loco was fixed at Didcot nearly in time to return the charter to Tyseley but pathing problems in getting the loco from the railway centre to the correct platform in time apparently prevented this. It was fit enough though to run back to Birmingham under it's own power a couple of days later. What is odd though is that the NRM has pulled the plug on the proposed GWR loco line up at York on 24th May owing (according to Heritage Railway) to Edgcumbe's failure.. #-o The line up involving 5043, 6000, 4003 and 3440 could take place later in the year.

Not sure but think the castle is fit to go to York next week and if not one of the other engines at Tyseley could do the job so can't believe this is why the event has been cancelled

The York trip was always an out and back on the 25th , not a means of getting 5043 to York for the event

I understood the dates were 2 to 4th May, and that it was an opportunity whilst 5043 was being used to haul the streamlined 6229 back to the NRM. Harold.

Strange that the timings quote 5043 on the out bound trip and 4965 on the reverse, missprint ? Harold.

well given that 4965 is out of ticket i think it's a misprint . probably cloned the template from a previous tour

Most likely, Tyseley - York is virtually a repeat itinery how often it features...
