What a difference a shed makes!

After many years working in the open, the group restoring 8F 48624 at Peak Rail now have space in the new Rowsley shed, and judging by the photograph on the Peak Rail website, (scroll down just a little on the news page linked below) things are coming along nicely now. The boiler has been completed and steam tested, but I am not aware as to whether the boiler "ticket" is actually running.

A nice touch to see the tins and bowls under each oiled bearing to keep the nice clean shed floor... clean! Well done folks.

Indeed, a shed can make all the difference! Thanks for posting the photo link; the 8F is really coming on well which is good to see!

2009 is the only answer the group seem to give as they work at their own pace and don't want to rush things.

I know this is a long shot, but has anybody got an 8-way silvertown lubricator?
We have one but it's not the origional type and so doesn't look right and is bound to upset the rivet counters. So if you can help please get in touch.

Fantastic! Great to see it all coming together!

I used to work in the Council office along side Darley Dale station yard, last time I saw the 8F the boiler was still off the frames.

josh, it is less than a month since I linked a photo of 48624 to this site from the Peak Rail site, and the photo of the engine in the shed at Rowsley had a comment attached saying that "work appears to be proceeding apace..." .

Maybe the lads at Rowsley are concentrating on finishing the engine rather than spending time with frequent updates to the rest of the universe.

It will be done when it is done!

Is the shed open to visitors to Peak Rail?

We are still progressing, the cladding is going on,the final bits of pipework are being completed, the tender is in the process of getting its final painting.
I don't believe that the shed is technically open to the public as it is still a building site and this should be respected by any visitors to site, but the loco can be seen through the windows.

Intreresting! Does not look like undercoat for gloss black, does it?

Are we about to see how LMS Crimson looks on an 8F?

I bet it would look rather handsome!
