When was she last steamed? I have seen lots of pics of 6201 over the years but 46203 has been absent for a while. I believe she is owned by the same group who own 46233, though she was overhauled in 2011. Has there been any thought about getting the "Lizzie" back on the main line. Anyone know exactly what she needs to get her back. Any major stumbling blocks or just a Heavy overhaul?

I spoke to Brian Radford about 6203 many years ago after her last steaming, and he told me that there were serious - and expensive - firebox problems. I dare say that her turn will come eventually, but I doubt it will be while 6233 is out and about.

As my favourite loco I can't wait till it's back. My first steam excursion was behind her in 1995 when I was 7. We won the 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' headboard in a raffle and I kind gentlemen got me on the footplate at Carlisle. Hope the problems aren't too major...

As an aside I think 6203 carries the original boiler from 6202

How extraordinary that two of Britain's best known prototypes - the Hush Hush and the Turbomotive - should live on with such large parts of their makeup still extant (the tender behind UoSA and the boiler as described above).

That's a lovely bit of trivia - and how historical too!

Was that Boiler fitted to 46202 at the time of the Harrow disaster. I know the engine was scrapped but I heard the boiler was saved.

No. The original boiler 9100 was replaced by 9236 in July 1937 and stayed with the loco throughout her working life. It was unique among Class 1 boilers in that it had a 40-element superheater, the others all had 32 elements (eventually). Additionally, this boiler was used on 6210 from 9/43 to 8/44 and reappeared on 6204 in August 1950 while 6202 was out of traffic waiting repair. It was refitted to 6202 in September 1952; and went to 6212 in January 1954.

I'm slightly confused by this post. Is it 9100 or 9236 which has the 40-element superheater?

Sorry! 9236 had 40 elements, as it was felt that the turbine would benefit from a higher steam temperature. It therefore replaced 9100, which had 32 as with all the other boilers.
