Word on the rumour mill is that Galatea has failed her FTR and, as a result, this trip will be 47 hauled. Is anyone able to confirm or deny this?

    Thanks.

A word of caution of a different sort - a friend has just reminded me that the M4 is closed in both directions between J12 (Theale) and J13 (A34 Chievley) all weekend and all the routes in the district will be VERY congested.

Passengers waiting at Bedford I have been talking to were emailed last night being told the same.

Thanks @JDTTRAINS . Let's hope repairs can be effected fairly quickly. Galatea has been performing rather well recently.

Thanks for the posts. Saved us a trip to Reading to do a POTD.

No bother! It was just convenient that the diesel leg was coming through my local, and I could get pics of that before getting the next train to London, and race over to Iver for the steam section - ended up getting my Travelcard and Iver tickets (luckily) refunded! Hope the engine has a speedy recovery, although the repair sounded major.

Disappointing news about the Jubilee. I was going to head out to see this as I couldn't make the Swanage Bulleid event.
Sounds like she could be out for a while unless they have any spare crossheads lying around: (black part circled below)

Better to find stuff like that during a FTR exam, rather than out on the road, of course. Still very bad news, considering the form that Galatea has been in recently. Hope she's sorted out soon.

RTT suggests that they have at least been able to give those on the tour an extra 90 minutes in Bath and Bristol which is to the credit of those responsible. It's also 45699's last listed tour for a little while.

I was thinking that this may have been a homecoming for 45699 to Bristol TM. I guess not then.
