Load 11, no box, very wet on the outbound, solid show with 11 coaches posing no problem.
Although I have nothing against the 8F, it's a very welcome sight to have Leander out on the S&C again!
Armathwaite on the return...
Footage of 45690 High above Birkett Tunnel .
Looking and sounding superb, LMS 5XP Class 4-6-0 No. 45690 'Leander' is seen speeding towards Shotlock Tunnel with the first of this year's 'Fellsman'
rail tours from Lancaster to Carlisle
Working through Smardale cutting on the return
Speeding towards Kirkby Stephen with the return leg of 'The Fellsman' rail tour
The brisk northeasterly wind carried the sound of Leander's exhaust for over 5 minutes before she rounded the curve on the approach to Ramsgreave and Wilpshire station which she blasted through almost 8E, going well and sounding magnificent as she breasted the summit. A quick relocate to Cherry Tree was rewarded with a RT appearance and the "Jubilee Roar" as she flashed by.
I had hoped to be out to see the morning run but Mrs W sent be to the dentist instead (to have a wisdom tooth fitted!)
We are very lucky on here as some people are prepared to go out in any conditions to photograph a train.
Like that Ian good to see sun
Leander climbing towards Ais Gill in the morning drizzle at Shaw Paddock to the north of Shotlock Hill.
The return leg passing Smardale.
The best was definitely saved for last up Wilpshire ! Give me conditions like today over hot sun anyday !
Don't keep us in suspense!
Hopefully tomorrow afternoon Ian.

Every credit to them for making an effort for us all to enjoy than no effort at all .
Fortune favours the brave !
Henry, someone both you and I know coined the phrase 'sunshine is for wimps' and he is right. With digital editing a decent image can be produced in all sorts of conditions and perversely has seen a big revival in b/w. Dust off your copies of Gifford's three books and be inspired! If you don't have them look on eBay.
Hi John yes I get what you say,but most of my posts on here are a wind up.Unfortunately a few people dont have a sense of humour
Really liked your recent down south pics and my favourite was not in sun
Faultless performance yesterday, the northbound run just edged it for me, and a great sound up Wilpshire to finish the day off !
Good coverage Liam , you're a brave man going onto that farm at Horton without incurring the wrath of the farmer !!! or give him some money to pacify him, or her !!
