The 17:55 run out of Alton was something else, wasn't it, very enjoyable.
Didn't manage to get behind 4270 today, but will tomorrow.

It was nice to get into the boiler shop, up close to Winnie.

Some pictures from today, I'll be adding more over the rest of the weekend.

Yep, still here Dave! :p I have been rather quiet, yeah, haven't had the best of luck when it comes to photography recently and haven't uploaded much onto here.

To make up for being so quiet... here's another photograph from today, 1450 at Alresford this morning!

Judging by the lumps that just landed on my head and fell on the table, I'm guessing the mid hants is having a GW gala...

Just had ash disappear down the inside of my coat sleeve and burn a hole in it ! :)

Southern men on GW engines treatin em mean keeping them keen.

Just had a very lively run behind 6960, whilst sitting behind 4270 feels a bit like a tug of war whilst moving..

Ps (I'll give the lumps back to the driver so he can use them again)

Arrived late to the gala due to working this morning. On arriving at Ropley it was find a car park space and people were still arriving at 2pm. Nice to see a reporting number on Nunney Castle but I did notice it also had a Pines Express headboard has well. Does anyone know if this is correct for a GWR loco to run with a reporting number and a headboard?

    Thanks

Had an excellent day on the trains today - really enjoyed the sound of the Western engines going over the Alps.

I managed to get a few more photos too - including a very dramatic start by 45379 this morning!

    I'm not a diesel fan these days but I thought a "gronk" was a Class 08 not a 37!

Another excellent day today at the MHR. This Gala certainly ranks in the top 5 in the MHR history of these events. I heard a lot of visitors saying they had a great day both yesterday and today. For me the undoubted stars of the event were 5029 & 6960 with 1450 close behind. Had some superb runs behind the Castle & Hall today. A big thank you to all the staff & volunteers & the loco owners. Well done MHR, you have done yourselves proud once again.
Now I have to sort through my pictures and videos from two days.

Thats got to be the understatment of the year. She vanished for ages and was half way towards the HP bridge before she amerged from the smoke... the 9f was just as bad as the back... certainly dramatic and memorible

I was in the front coach.. the sound track of this makes up for many things... however the return was fantastic... there's not many loco's that make a Britannia sound quiet.
    Will share it tomorrow.

Our friends on the back said they wanted to be towed, and enjoy the noise at the front. Who was I to argue? I just managed to sight the advance before it disappeared into a fog. The Black 5 is going really well.
4270 is lovely, but I wouldn't want to use it on the Belle. Hunts no matter what you do.

It's a box. Fortunately, try as it might.. it'd didn't get into the platform and out to play, instead it was banished next to the hampshire unit after letting the 9F out.

Haha it was a brilliant departure. The Black 5 did look good today but your right I wouldn't want to be a belle hauled by 4270 my friend had a cup of tea and it was shaking about everything.
