I seem to remember that there are carriage watering hoses on Platform 3 at Carlisle, which we are scheduled to use in both directions. So we should be OK ...

    Really looking forward to it

The crew made quite a few phone calls about where to park their Cl37 which had failed on the way to Crewe with the NWCE at the end of July. I think it ended up at the Heritage Centre.

Yes carriages can be watered on 3 at Carlisle, it just needs the station staff to be forewarned and get their act together.

Re the diesel in the consist south of Carnforth. Don't shoot the messenger but I believe that this is not a parking or pathing issue but simply there is other work for the loco in question during the day and that is not at Crewe.

No, not pushing the A4 as she comes on at Carlisle. And, no, not the Duchess if the crew thinks they can handle the equivalent of 14/15 on a gently graded line to Carnforth.......which she definitely can!

Sadly it doesn't look like we are double heading back from Carlisle (60009 goes off to Castleton at 18:53)

Perhaps you forget that a couple of years back 6233 took 13 over Shap with a dead 47 on the back, so equivalent to 16, and note the diesel was dead as in no engines running.

Yes that's quite right, but Ralph's assertion is that WCRC have a busy weekend, which is true including on Saturday a Ryder Cup Edinburgh- Perth rtn(Network Rail pathed this), but if you look at Steam Info and Railway Herald, there is nothing advertised that the loco could do between those times.

WCRC also have a charter from South Wales to Oban, Sat to Mon, so several locos and crews will be tied up on this. You also don't know what else they are doing in respect of providing crews and locos for engineering trains and the like.

As an example, last weekend with the West Highlander which operated Preston-Carlisle-Glasgow via Shap, and Glasgow-Carlisle-Preston via Ayr and Dumfries, needed 4 engine crews alone.

Phone your order into Morrison's on Friday afternoon for delivery to the station. Or see if a local take-away will deliver? Not knowing the Bellshill district, I don't know whether that's desirable or not....

Just to keep this factual, the West Highland Weekend is DRS Newport-Oban class 37's.

So for how long will we have to suffer a Diesel Brick bolted on the back of our lovely steam engine?

Actually only Newport - Crianlarich under WCRC operation, as it will be the Class 31 residing at Fort William t&t with 45407 Crianlarich - Oban

So keeping it factual, WCRC crews are certainly busy this weekend!

So we only have to suffer the Diesel Brick from Crewe to Carnforth?

For heavens sake give it a rest, the diesel will most likely be doing nothing so what's the problem.
