yes, some dramatic progress in the last couple of weeks thanks to the Tamper and the Contractor.

You never know I might just surprise you all with a picture of a DMU standing in the platform at Abergwili Junction before too long...:)

    Regards

    Matt

This Sunday morning (7th) morning, the DMU will be working two round trips, before the (steam) Sunday lunch train.

    Departures from Bronwydd Arms at:

    1030 (DMU)
    1115 (DMU)
    1230 (steam - dining)
    1430 (steam - dining).

Normal fares apply for the DMU, and are also valid to travel in the bar-car on the 1230 + 1430 ex BA, space permitting. If you want the meal as well, there are currently two tables (of four) left - ring 01267 238 213 to book.

The tamper (Plasser & Theurer 07-275 DR 73309) arrived on the railway on 19th August, and has now left.

The recently arrived BSK (35448) has now also entered traffic.

    Cheers,

    Phil.

Yes we used a roller to get a good formation ready for the track laying. Really nice job, almost seems a shame to lay track on it :)

Yes, one of the reasons that tracklaying was delayed was that DC/WW wanted to repaint and repair the bridge before the track was laid.

    Hi Tom

We didn't really have a use for Victory so it's gone to P and B where they are going to restore it as they were looking for a new project after the successful restoration of Rosyth No.1.

Olwen still progressing steadily. No date for a return yet.

Tracklaying this week so I'll get some more photo updates soon.

    Regards

    Matt

    Update

Tracklaying has started and by the end of today 7 panels have been laid taking the head of steel through the road bridge. Prior to this base ballast has been laid on the final section north of the bridge to the railhead.

The photo shows the state of play at lunchtime today. At the present rate if progress the track should reach the platform early next week....

    Mission accomplished!

Track now extends beyond the southern ramp of the platform, thus completing this phase of tracklaying.

The points and loop will be inserted at a later date but the rest of the work for this month will include ballasting the new section.

    Hopefully get a photo tomorrow.

Still lots to do but for now though and in the style of Hannibal Smith "I love it when a plan comes together..."

    Regards

    Matt
