From the front page of the WCRC website, seems to have been rebranded "The Seaside Flyer", and prices look reduced too (I suspect they give great value against "modern" fares, as the previous discount compared pretty well) - seems to be the same service.

I booked tickets for the Scarborough Spa back in June for the 25th August, given the Spa is no longer running am I entitled to a refund ? I’ve received no emails from West Coast informing me that the Spa is no longer running .

Not yet, only just catching up . My kids love the trip to Scarborough every year , hauled by a Steam Engine makes it even more special. Thinking about the situation it cannot get any worse. So I think I will hold on to the tickets and hope it rains significantly enough for the steam ban to be lifted.
However, I very much doubt this will happen. (That’s the steam ban been lifted) Even if the Fire Risk for Yorkshire is still low !! See the attached

Any sign of steam today? It's a very long shot, I know, but given yesterday's rain...? A friend will be passing through Wakefield at about the right time, and is wondering whether to get his camera out.

Have ticket prices been reduced accordingly, or a part refund offered to those already booked expecting steam????

traveled on Wednesday, we had booked a few weeks ago on the internet, you got a £10 voucher to use on any WCR trip in the next 12 months because there was no steam.

Loading seemed pretty good on Wednesday, certainty not full but at the same time not empty either

    From WCRC Website

    Scarborough Spa Express
    [IMG]
Due to the unusually dry conditions Network Rail
will not allow steam engines to run on the route of the Scarborough Spa Express for the remainder of the season.

We will continue to run a service on the same route with the same traditional carriages, it will be hauled by a Diesel Engine called “Seaside Flyer”. Other than steam the service remains unchanged, and we trust all passengers will thoroughly enjoy this unique experience.
All fares have been amended to reflect the change, please follow the link above to the “Seaside Flyer” to view full details.

I asked WCRC whether there was any likelihood of steam for the rest of the SSE season and got the following ;-

Unfortunately the decision to run steam is assessed daily by Network rail and is subsequently out of our hands. It does, however, look unlikely that we will be able to run a steam engine for the remainder of the season.

    Kind regards,
