This will be the 5th event to use the popular formula of steam, diesel and railcars working an intensive and varied timetable.

On Friday evening the Foxcote Manor Society are holding their annual social event. This will involve a steam-hauled trip along the line with refreshments available to purchase and is open to all visitors. Dr Beeching's real ale Bar will also be open on Llangollen station from around 8:30pm. This is a very friendly event and a most pleasant way to spend an evening. Tickets are £15 with all profits going towards 7822's extensive fire box repairs. Please note tickets are not transferrable to the weekend's trains. To book your place contact Matt Girndley via http://www.foxcotemanorsociety.co.uk/.

2 steam locomotives are likely to be in use on Saturday and Sunday with a similar intensive timetable to Classic Transport Weekend but with 2 additional class 26-hauled night trips to return campers to Carrog. A 6LDA on full piff in the dark does a good line in sparks as well you know! Currently available are standard class 4 tank 80072 and GWR 2-8-0 3802. At least one of these will get Iain's now legendary special temporary weathering treatment.

Some interesting rolling stock should be in use, including our two superbly restored suburban coaches.

Class 26 diesel number D5310, in 1960's green livery with original train describer discs will run on both days. Two railcars should be in use, including the superb Class 109 Wickham.

FREE vintage bus rides will be on offer between Llangollen and Carrog, using two vehicles from the North West Museum of transport, calling at Berwyn and Glyndyfrdwy en route. If using these services without a ticket visitors are politely requested to make a donation to either the North West Museum of Transport or the LR Corwen extension fund.

A vintage vehicle rally will be staged at Glyndyfrdwy station and live music with Dr Beechings real ale bar can be enjoyed on Llangollen station throughout the weekend, where there is also a 1960s-style market place. 8 Welsh and Shropshire real ales will be on sale at £2.50 a pint. Not quite 1960's prices but still pretty cheap!

Come in a 60s era car and claim two free rover tickets. e-mail publicity@llangollen-diesels.org.uk to bring a vehicle along. Entries are accepted up until the 23rd of July.

All in all it's looking like another belter of a weekend. All we need now is for the fine weather to stay with us.....

Gutted I can't make the main event now due to shifts. Thoroughly enjoyed the last 3x events I've visited, by far the best event Llan does all year.

I'll be there the Friday night though, so at least get to sample something.

Tch, how inconsiderate of a friend to arrange their wedding for that weekend.

Even if the Aveling would have be been impractical and stretching it bit on appropriateness, I could have turned up in the Series IIa, bagged a free ticket and been given a reserved parking space!

    Ah well, perhaps another year.
Hope the event goes well all the same though. :)

Thanks for the kind words Chaps - sorry to hear you can't make it. Friday night will have plenty on Jon!

Timetable expected to follow same pattern as Classic Transport - 2 steam, 2 DMU and D5310, with additional evening campers and real ale train after the live music. DMUs will be working through to Bonwm for those wanting more extension miles! Vintage bus service runs between Llangollen and Carrog, calling at Berwyn and Glyndyfrdwy for the vintage vehicle rally, which has seen a lot of registrations to attend - should be a good display again!
