If Mr Shuttleworth posts the details of the plan as it stands at present, it means that West Coast and NR have agreed that under the existing circumstances this is the best thing to do, so why must people immediately cast doubt on this plan.

Possibly because we all have lots of experience of things changing, possibly because its changed at least twice today, and probably because as this is an internet forum, one of its prime functions is to encourage discussion and speculation.

It is not what we paid for, we will have 44932 instead of 70013. I completely understand the morning trip being diesel but as I booked on both trips solely for 70013 I'm disappointed it is not on the evening run. I understand things can change regarding loco availability but it is very disappointing especially as it is fit to work the train. Well at least I need a few miles on 44932 to clear it for 1000.

    Quite,
    ...
Who knows it may even leave -1 late at 1702.. By which time the fireman may now be stood by their poles ready to dance (sorry jump).

Seriously, people better informed than us have made there decisions.

I keep forgetting whilst we all live on the same planet we don't necessarily live in the same world.

I seem to remember that when Steam Dreams switched to West Coast they made quite a thing about the fact that they would be able to have a much wider range of locomotives on their trips. As it's turning out in the south (and the Explorer) it seems that you can have any class you like as long as it's a Black 5. Such is the lottery of steam charters - quite a nightmare, I think, for all concerned.

What do you think, Jeff?.....................................

Just be grateful you've got steam at the weekend, more or less on your doorstep....... could've been no steam at all thanks to Trumpton!

Though the following weekend looks to be a challenge chasing steam around town!!:)

Err exactly how wide do you think my doorstep is then? I'd have done the long distance chasing for Ollie, not wasting petrol money and missing my evening curry for a black 5 with a diesel on the back.

But full marks to the organisers if they pull this one off, done some hard work and thinking outside the box to get some steam at least.

But one has to ponder if Ollie was ever ready for this one, and the pew pew barny mcgrew strike was a convenient get out.....

Thought I would try one from the back garden on the tripod at a range of about four miles towards Sandwich Bay.

Set the camera up with five minutes to go only to find, twenty minutes later, that it had already passed:oops:

So here's a picture of the following service!

Rather OT, but have been watching the Cricket as my planned tour of Kent to photograph 70013 was cancelled.

It is 'fancy dress' day at Hedgingly today and the cameras keep following two ladies, dressed as BSWs. Can Mr. Yeti shed any light on this matter?

What a surprise. Having said that the 5 was making all the noise through the Bromley area.
